IPER - Interdisciplinary approaches and Processes for Reserarch on precision oncology

2024-2027
The project aims to create technological devices and algorithms for precision oncology, with the aim of simplifying the evaluation and implementation of improvements in the treatment of colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, and metastatic melanoma. IPeR's vision is to build a set of analytical tools that, starting from the initial diagnosis of a tumor, lead to the identification of the best therapies, both for pharmacological testing and for use in individual therapy. The pipeline is powered by patient-derived organoids as in vitro replicas of the tumor and by enabling technological tools: artificial intelligence algorithms and microfluidic devices. IPeR will pursue an interdisciplinary technological research approach, drawing on the availability of data and samples from multicenter studies led by IRCCS-FPOs with extensive temporal data, essential for studying endpoints such as survival and recurrence. IPeR builds on the success of "DEFLeCT," which innovated the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, and leverages the synergy with the PNRR "D3-4-Health" project. IPeR expands the objectives of the two projects to include primary diseases and broadens their ambitions in the field of technological solutions.
